Smoky Trailside Chili Recipe

Serves: 3 – 4

Gear: Pot or deep skillet, camp stove, spoon


Ingredients:

  • 1/2 lb ground beef or bison
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 can chili beans (15 oz)
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (fire roasted preferred)
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Optional: shredded cheese, green onion, tortilla chips

Instructions:

  1. Brown the meat in your pot. Add onion and garlic, cook until soft.
  2. Stir in beans, tomatoes, and spices.
  3. Simmer for 10–15 minutes to thicken and blend flavors.
  4. Serve hot with toppings of your choice.

Trail Tip:

Pre-mix your spices in a zip bag to save space and avoid bringing full containers.
