You are out on the trail getting ready to prepare your trail cuisine. Do you grab the full-size cutting knife you brought from home? Nope, that thing is way big and unless you wrapped it in some kind of protection, you are potentially cutting yourself looking for it. Instead, you grab your stainless steel folding camp kitchen knife, chop your meats and veggies, clean it off, fold it up and hang it to dry.
We’ve been testing this knife out on the trail and at home. Veggies, meat… we and a couple we sent out to some customers to test, have been using this. For a relatively inexpensive kitchen knife, it is fantastic. We originally saw someone using a similar knife – we tried it out, then went on the hunt to find it, or something similar. We found and really liked this one.
The wood handle is solidly built. It feels heavy, which is good – it doesn’t feel flimsy. The stainless steel blade cuts through well. It sharpens easily too.
One of the best features though is that the handle is open…one side to the other, it is open. For a camp kitchen knife, this is fantastic because you won’t get food or water stuck inside of it, attracting bacteria. When you clean the knife, the cleansing water passes right through the handle, cleaning any food debris out.
